Required Experience To Take Ohio Test

THE STATE OF OHIO REQUIRES ANYONE TAKING A LOW PRESSURE STEAM BOILER OPERATORS TEST TO HAVE EXPERIENCE ON & AROUND A BOILER BEFORE HE/SHE MAY TAKE THE EXAM.

  • 2,000 HOURS OF HANDS ON EXPERIENCE ARE REQUIRED WITHOUT CLASSES FROM AN APPROVED BOILER SCHOOL OR:

  • 600 HOURS OF HANDS ON EXPERIENCE AND CLASSES FROM AN APPROVED BOILER SCHOOL (WE ARE AN APPROVED SCHOOL)

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE AT A LOCAL BOILER ROOMS

FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY!

THE BELOW INFORMATION IS FOR SCHOOL CUSTODIANS THAT WISH TO OBTAIN THEIR 600 HOURS IN THEIR SCHOOL DISTRICT

  • HOURS MUST BE VERIFIED BY AN OHIO STEAM BOILER LICENSED OPERATOR.
      • License may be:
        • Low pressure, high pressure, stationary engineers
      • Verifier will be contacted by the state
    • HOURS WILL BE CONSIDERED ON THE FOLLOWING BASIS:
      • 1.5-2 HOURS PER DAY
      • 5 days a week
      • 5 months per year
        • May be able to consider 6 months if long winter

EXAMPLE OF 1 YEARS CUSTODIAL HOURS CALCULATIONS:

2 HOURS/DAY X 5 DAYS/WEEK = 10 HOURS PER WEEK

10 HOURS/WEEK X 20 WEEKS = 200 HOURS CAN BE OBTAINED PER YEAR
